Voix de Garage (translated from French)
If you follow faithfully this blog and / or the show you know that I am seriously addicted to this English quartet that I put in all the sauces (making them play Grenoble, or interviewing them for Abus Dangereux) … that makes of long months that I know that this new album will be released! And it’s been a few weeks I have received promo … and I must say that the excitement is rising, leading to a 1 st feverish listening, especially since this album is a tad different from what I expected.
This 6th album (since 2010) happens quite quickly after ‘Tear you mind wide open’ which marked the beginning of their collaboration with Damaged Goods Rds . A new album more songwriting oriented. Pop, posed, mature … less Garage, less Freakbeat than in the past, with greater emphasis on the vocal of Viv Bonsels the band’s organist, who is entrusted with lead singing on 2 songs, which is the first time in the history of The Galileo 7 (unless I am mistaken) In addition to this feminine contribution (also in the chorus), Allan Crockford has never sung so well, extending his register on harmonies well laid and calm.
Attention, here we are far from a soft disk! We are simply on complex melodies, lush, wide and ambitious. However they are played by a quartet guitar / organ / bass / drums and recorded on an 8 tracks, which gives the whole a real dynamic, and a sound that has depth, but also the drought necessary to maintain the tension of these Pop songs!
The more the plays, the more obvious it appears this album is made to last!
